Privacy Policy
This explains what ShopGridd (operated by NextStep Clients, a sole proprietorship based in Alabama) collects, why, and who can see it. It covers two different kinds of people: members who sign up to run their business on ShopGridd, and those members' own customers, whose information a member enters into the system.
The short version — how your data is used
- The operator of ShopGridd can see everything in your account — your customers, jobs, notes, pricing, photos, and money numbers. This is how support, troubleshooting, and running the platform work. It is never sold or shown to other members.
- Your numbers are pooled with every other member's to measure the platform's total buying volume, and that combined total is used to negotiate group discounts on parts, tools, and supplies. When we talk to a supplier we speak in combined figures — how many shops, roughly how much volume — never any one business's finances by name.
- Other members cannot see your data unless you personally hand a job to them, and then only that one customer, for that one job.
- We may use how your business is doing on ShopGridd to suggest other NextStep Clients services (a website, Google ranking help, coaching). You're never obligated to say yes.
The full detail is in sections 3, 4, and 5 below.
1. Information We Collect From You (the Member)
- Account info: your name, business name, email, password (stored encrypted, we can't read it), phone number if you add one, and the cities you cover.
- Anything you enter while using ShopGridd: job details, notes, pricing, photos, expenses.
- Basic usage info: when your site's request form gets a visit, so your dashboard can show visit counts.
2. Information a Member Enters About Their Own Customers
When you (a member) take in a customer's name, phone number, email, vehicle info, or address to log a job, ShopGridd stores that on your behalf so you can run your business. That customer didn't sign up for ShopGridd and didn't agree to these policies, you're the one responsible for having a legitimate reason to hold their information, the same as if you wrote it in a notebook. ShopGridd does not contact your customers directly, sell their information, or use it for anything other than storing it for you and, in aggregate and never identifying any one customer, for the purposes described in Section 4.
3. Who Inside ShopGridd Can See What
- You see your own business's data: your customers, your jobs, your team, your numbers.
- Your own staff logins see what you've given them access to see, set by you.
- Other members cannot see your data at all, unless you specifically hand off a job to them, in which case they see only that one customer's details for that one job.
- ShopGridd's operator (Master) can view account data across every business on the platform, including customer lists, job details, and money summaries. This exists to run the platform, provide support, and troubleshoot problems. It is not made public, sold, or shown to other members.
4. Money Data: What You Earned & What You Spent
If you log what a job earned and what you spent on it (parts, supplies, other costs), ShopGridd stores that the same way a bookkeeping tool would, and Master can see it across every account. We use it two ways: to show it back to you in your own money reports, and, combined across every member, to understand the platform's real buying volume. Part of ShopGridd's pitch to members is group buying power, using that combined volume to negotiate better pricing on parts, tools, and supplies with suppliers. When we talk to a supplier about group pricing, we talk in combined numbers, how many members, roughly how much total volume, not any one business's finances by name.
5. Using What We See To Offer You Other Help
NextStep Clients, ShopGridd's operator, also offers other services to mechanics outside of ShopGridd itself: building websites, improving Google ranking, and business coaching. Because Master can see how your business is actually doing on ShopGridd, we may use that to reach out if we think one of those services could genuinely help you, for example, if you're getting a lot of requests but few of them turn into finished jobs, or your visibility online looks thin. You're never obligated to say yes, and being a ShopGridd member never requires buying anything else from us.
6. Reports, Analytics & Estimates
The numbers ShopGridd shows you, visit counts, conversion rates, seasonal trends, average response time, are calculated from the data in the system and are estimates meant to help you see patterns. They are not audited figures and won't always be perfectly precise, especially early on with a small amount of data. Treat them as a helpful guide, not a certified report.
7. Payment Information
ShopGridd does not collect or store your card number. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe through a Stripe-hosted payment link. Stripe's own privacy policy governs what they collect.
8. How Long We Keep Data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, you can download a full backup first from your dashboard. After an account is closed, data may be kept for a reasonable period for legal, tax, and dispute purposes, then removed.
9. Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Access to your account requires your password. Like any online service, we can't promise perfect security, but we take reasonable, standard steps to protect what's stored.
10. Your Choices
- You can download a full copy of your business's data at any time from your dashboard.
- You can add or remove your staff's access at any time.
- You can close your account at any time by contacting us.
11. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll let existing members know before it takes effect.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data: call or text (504) 881-8050.
